POLK COUNTY, Fla.- Polk State College is set to reopen on Monday, October 14th, following a temporary closure due to Hurricane Milton. While cleanup efforts continue across campus locations, Saturday classes have been canceled to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff. The College urges everyone to remain off campus until Monday.
Several events have been postponed, including FallFest (originally scheduled for October 12th), the Haines City-Davenport Campus groundbreaking ceremony (October 15th), and the Winter Haven Campus open house (October 15th). New dates for these events will be announced soon.

Important Information for Students and Faculty:
- Faculty are asked to be flexible with students who may be facing challenges with power, internet access, or transportation.
- Students are encouraged to communicate with their professors and check their my.polk.edu and Canvas accounts for updates.
- A list of resources to assist with hurricane recovery is available on the College website.
Emergency Notifications:
Polk State College reminds everyone to ensure their contact information is up to date in Passport to receive emergency alerts. Students can update their information under “My Details,” while employees can do so under “Personal” and “Change Contact Info.” The “Cellular Number” field will be used for emergency voice and text messages.
While the College has transitioned to the Polk Portal for registration and financial aid, emergency notifications are still managed through Passport.
Individuals can also sign up for AlertPolk to receive messages from Polk County Emergency Management, the Florida Division of Emergency Management, and the National Hurricane Center.
