If Donald Trump taught us anything while he was president, it is that it’s never too early for your political opponents to start talking about impeachment.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene picked up on that a year ago.
The Georgia Republican filed articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden on his second day in office in January 2021.
Greene asserted that Biden, when he was vice president, engaged in “enabling bribery” and risking America’s national security by failing to stop his son, Hunter Biden, from accepting lucrative deals with Chinese communists and shady Ukrainians.
Greene was dismissed as a crank. But a year later, the idea of Biden being impeached is gaining momentum – with surprisingly large support among Democrats.
A new poll by the right-leaning Rasmussen Reports revealed that half of all U.S. voters want Biden impeached.
Yet Rasmussen also found that 34 percent of Democrats want Biden impeached, including 19 percent who “strongly” support the idea.
CNSNews.com explained why it’s not just Republicans who want Biden out.
The outlet pointed to another poll, by CBS and YouGov, that found the number of Democrats who feel “secure” with Bidein in the White House fell from 52 percent to 42 percent since last April.
The same polls discovered that those Democrats who are “calm” with Biden at the helm dropped from 56 percent to 45 percent, while those who are “satisfied” decreased from 54 percent to 49 percent.
The pollster also learned that Democrats who believe Biden is “effective” dropped from 88 percent to 72 percent, those who say he is “focused” dipped from 86 percent to 76 percent, and those who answered “unifying” declined from 76 percent to 65 percent.
The same poll also found that Democrats who “strongly” approve of Biden’s performance plunged from 61 percent to 40 percent.
According to Congress.gov, GOP lawmakers have shown they learned from their Democratic counterparts, by keeping the impeachment talk going.
Green has filed three impeachment resolutions since offering her first in January 2021. Some of her fellow Republicans have joined in, arguing Biden’s border policies and COVID plans are grounds to dump him.
Such resolutions have been introduced by Reps. Randy Weber of Texas, Lauren Boebert of Colorado, and Bob Gibbs of Ohio.
