A reporter asked, “Mr. President, for vaccinated Americans who are wondering why they should continue to restrict their activities, given your health officials say most Americans will get COVID at some point.”

Poll: Voters Trust Republicans More On A Wide Variety Of Issues, While Biden Has America Headed In The Wrong Direction

President Joe Biden’s personality and policies may be the best thing the Republicans have going for them at the moment.

A new Wall Street Journal poll, released Friday, revealed that Americans are an unhappy bunch, seeing misery everywhere they turn on Biden’s watch.

According to the poll of 1,500 likely voters, 63 percent believe the nation is on the wrong track, 65 percent think the economy is going in the wrong direction, and 60 percent rate the economy as either “not very good” or poor.

Among respondents, 41 percent said they had a favorable view of Biden – ironically, Donald Trump had the same amount. The same was true when the pollster asked about a Biden-Trump rematch in 2024. Each man got 45 percent support.

Trump, however, 48 percent said they approved of Trump’s work as president, while just 42 percent said the same about Biden.

When asked if Biden was “most focused” on issues that matter to them, 58 percent of respondents said no.

Those surveyed were also asked to rate Biden on his handling of eight specific issues. He failed to win majority backing on any of them. The closest he came was 50 percent approval for dealing with Russia. His lowest marks came in fighting crime, protecting the border, and controlling inflation. On those issues, Biden’s approval ratings were 33 percent, 33 percent, and 34 percent, respectively.

Similarly, the pollster asked respondents to choose whether they trusted Republicans or Democrats more to handle 16 specific issues. Republicans were given the vote of confidence on 11 of them, including by as much as 26 percentage points.

When asked if they intended to vote for the Republican or the Democrat in the upcoming congressional elections, the GOP led 46-41. The GOP’s number, however, was two percentage points higher now than when the same question was asked in November.

Perhaps most stunning was how Biden and the Democrats are losing their core base: minority voters.

The Journal noted that in November the Democrats and Republicans were tied among Hispanic voters; now the GOP holds a 9-point lead. Among black voters, 56 percent favored the Democrats four months ago; today, that stands at 35 percent. Meanwhile, the GOP more than doubled its support from blacks over the same time, going from 12 percent to 27 percent.

For Republicans, Biden may be the gift that keeps on giving.
