A North Carolina man, Harry Irvine Burdick Jr., is facing serious charges after a multi-county investigation by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office uncovered a complex scheme of bigamy.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) initiated an investigation in April 2025 following a report of bigamy. Their findings led to Burdick’s arrest on Friday, August 22, 2025, on two counts of felony bigamy.

According to investigators, Burdick had obtained three separate marriage licenses in North Carolina, with each marriage taking place in a different county: Lincoln, Davidson, and Guilford.

Detectives found no records of divorce proceedings that would have dissolved the previous marriages before Burdick entered into subsequent ones. The motive for Burdick’s actions is believed to be financial gain and personal enrichment.

Burdick was released on a written promise to appear in court. His first court appearance is scheduled for September 22, 2025, at the Davidson County Courthouse.
