A Mississippi man suspected of stealing packages from porches across state lines has been apprehended in Mobile, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
Todd Anthony Bond, 46, of Jackson, Mississippi, was arrested early Friday morning and charged with first-degree theft of property.
The arrest occurred around 1 a.m. when deputies spotted a black Ford Escape driving at a high rate of speed, according to an MCSO news release.
After stopping the vehicle, deputies identified the driver as Bond and reportedly discovered several packages inside the car. These packages allegedly matched the description of items recently stolen from someone’s property.
The investigation further revealed that Bond was allegedly in possession of multiple packages originating from Mississippi. Law enforcement agencies in Mississippi have been notified regarding the recovery of these items.
While the exact number and value of the stolen items were not immediately disclosed, the charge of first-degree theft of property suggests a significant amount. Authorities are continuing to investigate the extent of the alleged porch package thefts in both Mobile County and Mississippi.
Bond has been taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
