Portal Watch: Will Rocco Becht Come Home To Tampa? Plus, Where Lagway And Raiola Could Land

Rocco Becht
Rocco Becht (Iowa State Football)

TAMPA, Fla. – Wiregrass Ranch product Rocco Becht, son of former Bucs tight end Anthony Becht and New York Jets broadcaster Anthony Becht, entered the portal last week following an impressive three-season run at Iowa State.

His coach with the Cyclones, Matt Campbell, left a couple of weeks earlier to take over at Penn State, which could be a destination for the quarterback, with Drew Allar having expired his eligibility.

Could Becht return to Tampa and play for first-year coach Brian Hartline at USF? Would Becht want to leave a power conference for the American? Campbell and NIL are sure to play mightily into the decision.

Below are a handful of quarterbacks, listed alphabetically, that were in the portal as of Monday afternoon. UNT’s Drew Mestemaker and Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt are among those expected to enter the portal in January. The former will likely follow coach Eric Morris to Oklahoma State.

Aidan Chiles, Michigan State
Chiles followed Jonathan Smith from Oregon State to East Lansing. Smith was fired following the season while Chiles heads into his final year of eligibility with 4,116 passing yards and 39 total touchdowns.

Ashton Daniels, Auburn
Daniels is the latest Tiger to enter the portal following Alex Golesh’s arrival on the Plains. Daniels started three of the Tigers’ final four games this season after spending the previous two years as Stanford’s starting quarterback. He has one season of eligibility. (Another Auburn QB, Jackson Arnold, is expected to enter the portal.)

Josh Hoover, TCU
Hoover, who has one season of eligibility, is coming up on 10,000 career passing yards. The Horned Frogs’ starter the past three years threw for 3,472 yards and 29 touchdowns this season to go with 13 interceptions.

Kaitin Houser, East Carolina
The Michigan State transfer spent the last two seasons with Pirates, throwing for 5,306 yards and 53 touchdowns. He has one season of eligibility.

Colton Joseph, Old Dominion
Byrum Brown was not the only quarterback to sit out the Cure Bowl. Joseph was already in the portal following a season in which he threw for 2,624 yards and 21 TDs while also rushing for 1,007 yards and 13 scores. Joseph has two seasons of eligibility.

DJ Lagway, Florida
Would he head south on I-75? Lagway showed plenty of promise in Billy Napier’s offense, and also left Gators fans wanting more. See his 14 picks in 2025 as proof, a total that is second most in the country.

Dylan Raiola, Nebraska
A broken fibula ended Raiola’s season in November after throwing for 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns as a sophomore. He was the Cornhuskers’ starter as a freshman and has two seasons of eligibility.

Brendan Sorsby, Cincinnati
Sorsby had himself quite a 2025 season throwing for 2,800 yards, rushing for 580 yards and totaling 36 touchdowns with only five interceptions. He started two seasons with the Bearcats after transferring from Indiana. He has one season of eligibility.
