A Kentucky community is mourning after a 22-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn baby died following a shooting outside a local restaurant.
Ava Woodcock and her child passed away on Tuesday, April 7, at the University of Louisville Hospital, according to statements from the Glasgow Police Department and local reports.
The incident began on Saturday, April 4, in the parking lot of Annie’s Restaurant on Cleveland Avenue. Authorities state that Woodcock had pulled into the lot and honked her horn shortly before the encounter.
Brandon Lee Bond, 24, allegedly crossed the street, approached Woodcock’s vehicle, and opened fire. Following the shots, Woodcock’s car continued to roll until it eventually crashed.
Police noted that they initially received conflicting reports regarding whether Woodcock was inside or outside the vehicle when the shooting occurred. After the incident, the suspect reportedly fled into a nearby wooded area where he was later apprehended by officers.

Investigators told local outlet WBKO that Bond was “very uncooperative” during his arrest and had been drinking throughout the day.
Bond’s legal charges were significantly upgraded following the deaths. He now faces counts of first-degree murder, domestic violence, first-degree fetal homicide, and first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot. He is currently being held at the Barren County Detention Center.
A GoFundMe organized for the family, which has raised over $9,000, describes the event as a “senseless act of violence.”
The page notes that Woodcock fought for her life for several days before succumbing to her injuries. She leaves behind a 1-year-old daughter. Authorities are continuing to investigate the specific events and motives that led up to the shooting.
