President Donald J. Trump has issued a presidential proclamation ordering all U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was assassinated on Wednesday in Utah.

The order, which was signed on September 10, 2025, directs that flags be lowered at the White House, on all public buildings and grounds, at military posts, and on naval vessels across the United States and its territories.

The proclamation, a copy of which was released by the White House, states that the action is “a mark of respect for the memory of Charlie Kirk.” The directive also extends to all U.S. embassies, consulates, and other facilities abroad.

According to the order, flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative activist and commentator, founded Turning Point USA in 2012. The organization quickly grew into a major force on college campuses and in youth politics, advocating for conservative principles and free-market ideals.
