ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Residents in St. Petersburg should hold onto their bins for an extra morning this coming week. With the city observing Presidents’ Day on Monday, Feb. 16, local government offices and various municipal facilities are set to close their doors for the holiday.
The closure directly impacts the city’s sanitation schedule. If your trash or recycling is normally picked up on Monday, crews will be coming by on Tuesday instead. Consequently, those who usually see a truck on Tuesday will have their collection moved to Wednesday.
The rest of the week remains unaffected, so if you are on a Thursday or Friday route, you can stick to your usual routine.

While the trucks are off the road on Monday, other city services will also be hitting the pause button. Most administrative offices will be closed, though essential emergency services remain active. For those who aren’t sure if a specific park or community center is open, the city recommends checking their official holiday page online.
If you’re tired of trying to remember holiday shifts, the city is pushing its “St. Pete Collects” mobile app.
It sends alerts directly to your phone so you don’t end up being the only house on the block with a bin left out on the curb. Full details on the closures and service adjustments are available at stpete.org/HolidayClosures.
