“Problem 4 You?” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene To VP Harris On ‘Bailing Out’ Rioters

The George Floyd protests in Minneapolis–Saint Paul began on May 26, 2020, as a response to the murder of George Floyd.

Over a three-night period from May 27 to May 29, 2020, Minneapolis sustained extraordinary damage from rioting and looting—largely along a 5-mile stretch of Lake Street south of downtown.

This included the destruction of the city’s third police precinct building, which was overrun by demonstrators and set on fire.

1,300 properties throughout the State of Minnesota were damaged by rioting and looting, with a price tag of $350 million in that 3-day period.

Early into June of 2020, the Twin Cities saw 604 arrests, at least 2 people killed, and $550 million in damage to 1,500 properties.

Late Sunday night, Rep. Marjorie Greene asked Vice President Kamala Harris why she promoted bailing out rioters.

“Why would a sitting Senator running for Vice President raise money to bail out rioters,” Green said on Twitter.

“June 1, 2020 Minnesota was burning and the city was being destroyed by violent riots. And the donations were raised on Actblue, the Democrats national fundraising platform,” Greene said.

On August 31, 2020, then-President Trump said at a press conference, “Thirteen members of Biden’s campaign staff donated to bail and — rioters — they’re getting them out of jail. Looters — they got them out of jail. And his running mate, Kamala, urged their supporters to do the same thing.”

Kamala Harris helped violent rioters in Minnesota get out of jail to do more damage,” said Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) in a tweet on Aug 30, 2020, in response to then-Senator Harris’ tweet seeking donations.

Last year, after Harris endorsed the MFF, it was revealed that the fund had bailed out six men accused of domestic violence, including several who alleged to have sexually assaulted a child.

The MFF has also assisted individuals accused of a range of other crimes from assaulting an elderly woman to stabbing their aunt with a knife.

On October 21, 2020, in an action dubbed “Fall Freedom Day,” immigrant rights organizations in coordination with the National Bail Fund Network and Detention Watch Network, the Minnesota Freedom Fund posted $3 million in immigration bonds to free hundreds of individuals held in immigration detention across the country.

The MFF was established in 2016 to “maximize” the number of people released from jail through the payment of bonds, according to its website.
