ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Seniors in the St. Petersburg area are invited to a free health fair and seminar focused on improving and protecting memory, and promoting overall brain and body health.
The event, organized by Smart Healthy Living, is geared toward the 55-plus community and will take place on Wednesday, November 20, at the Magnolia Auditorium in the Five Towns Retirement Condo Community.
The Smart Healthy Living Health Fair runs from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will feature more than 25 health and wellness vendors. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from a wide array of services, including:
- Primary care and medical clinics
- Home healthcare and assisted living services
- Memory and brain health specialists
- Alternative medicine practitioners
- Allergy support and dental services
- Colorectal cancer screening via blood tests
- Natural products, insurance, and retirement planning.
Expert Seminar to Highlight Health and Wellness
The centerpiece of the day is a seminar running from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Five experts will deliver presentations designed to equip seniors with practical knowledge for a healthier life:
- Hany Small, Certified Herbalist: Discussing the benefits of fermented foods.
- Bernedette Holman (Arden Courts): Explaining the different types of dementia.
- Dr. Chris Jackson (A Path to Wellness): Focusing on how walking and movement affect everything.
- Sara Im, Author of How I Survived the Killing Fields and President of Smart Healthy Living: Sharing on finding hope and strength.
- Joan Sitting Bull (The Chrysalis Vision): Leading a talk on a journey through mind, body, and spirit.
Sara Im, president of Smart Healthy Living, emphasized the event’s mission. “Many older Americans often do not know how small movements can impact their lives,” Im said. “This health fair and seminar will show people how to protect their body and memory.”
The event is open to both Five Towns residents and nonresidents, and there is no entrance fee. The location is the Magnolia Auditorium, located at 7950 58th Ave. N in St Petersburg.
Sponsors for the day include Home Instead, Arden Courts of Seminole, the Chrysalis Vision, Dedicated Senior Medical Center, and Smart Healthy Living. Attendees can also look forward to door prizes, refreshments, and snacks.
