SPRING HILL, Fla. – A bystander is being hailed a hero after their quick actions saved three people from a house fire in Spring Hill early Friday morning.

Just after 7:00 AM on December 27th, Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) responded to a report of a house fire on Harrow Road. The first engine to arrive on the scene found smoke coming from a front window.

Upon further investigation, firefighters learned that a bystander walking by had noticed flames shooting out of the window and sprang into action. Using a garden hose, the bystander was able to knock down the fire before HCFR arrived, preventing what could have been a tragic outcome.

Three adults were asleep inside the home at the time of the fire and were unaware of the danger they were in. Thanks to the bystander’s quick thinking and bravery, they were able to escape unharmed.

The fire caused significant damage to the front living room and smoke damage throughout the home, rendering it uninhabitable. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents with temporary housing and other necessities.

Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be electrical.

The identity of the bystander remains unknown, but their heroic actions have earned them the gratitude of the community and the fire department.
