HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Monday drive ended in an arrest for a Hernando County woman who told deputies she crashed her vehicle after getting irritated by people walking near the roadway.
The incident occurred on Monday, June 29, 2026. A deputy from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit responded to a single-vehicle wreck after receiving reports from witnesses. According to onlookers, a car was speeding through a residential neighborhood, swerving, and running a stop sign before it ultimately slammed into a tree.
During the investigation, the driver, identified as Linda McCormack, admitted to deputies that she became “rage-baited” and agitated by the pedestrians nearby. Instead of slowing down or waiting patiently, McCormack acknowledged that she accelerated.
Witnesses at the scene corroborated this, stating the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed just before the collision.
Authorities confirmed that no one was injured in the crash.
While searching the vehicle, deputies located marijuana. Because McCormack did not possess a medical marijuana license, the discovery led to additional criminal charges.
McCormack was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving and Possession of Marijuana under 20 Grams. She was also issued a citation for running the posted stop sign. Jail records show she was held on a $1,000 bond.
