TAMPA, Fla. — Local anglers are clearing their calendars for what is shaping up to be the largest gathering of inshore fishing enthusiasts in the state. The Salt Strong All Florida Chapters Meet Up is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Egypt Shriners Event Center.

Doors will open at 10:00 a.m. for a four-hour intensive session focused on the tactics needed to land Florida’s “big four”: redfish, snook, trout, and tarpon.

The event is designed to move beyond basic theory, offering attendees direct access to some of the most recognizable names in the industry. Headliners include Salt Strong founders Joe and Luke Simonds, along with Captain Dave Pomerleau, known to many as “The Mad Snooker.” They will be joined by national TV host Captain Blair Wiggins and Captain Mark “Hollywood” Johnson to break down specific strategies for navigating Florida’s diverse coastal waters.

Darlene Shuman, founder of the Salt Strong Alliance, noted that the gathering is intended to provide practical, immediate value for those who spend their weekends on the water. According to Shuman, the goal is for every participant to leave with new techniques they can apply during their very next trip.

Beyond the guest speakers, the venue will host several hands-on workshops. Attendees can rotate through skill stations led by experts like Captain Leiza Fitzgerald, who will head an “Inshore 101” course. For those looking to master the art of the throw, Captains Mike Goodwine, Ryan Chabina, Mike Dawson, and Steve Johnson will lead cast net workshops. Wade fishing enthusiasts can pick up tips from Dave Ugenalp, better known as “Wader Dave,” and Brinkley Peters. Additional sessions will cover beach, surf, and kayak fishing, alongside demonstrations of the latest Power-Pole innovations.

Stakes are high for the afternoon’s giveaways. The event will serve as the backdrop for the drawing of a custom Micro Draft Skiff, a prize valued at more than $90,000. While the raffle for the boat officially closes on February 19, the winner will be announced live at the center. Other prizes include a FluxJet Kayak bundle, guided fishing charters, and various high-end rod and reel combos.

Environmental stewardship remains a core component of the day. A dedicated Conservation Zone will feature representatives from Sea & Shoreline, UF Sea Grant, and the Angler Action Foundation. These organizations will provide education on shoreline restoration and habitat protection, emphasizing the importance of maintaining Florida’s waterways for future generations.

The Egypt Shriners Event Center is located at 5017 E. Washington St. in Tampa. Tickets are currently priced at $20, though organizers are offering a 50% discount through February 20 with the use of a promotional code. Children aged two and under are admitted free of charge. For more information on the schedule or to secure tickets, interested parties can visit the Salt Strong Alliance website.
