Democrats on Wednesday continued their tired drumbeat that everything conservatives do is racist.

And Rep. Byron Donalds had enough.

During a House Oversight Committee hearing on President Joe Biden’s failed immigration policies, the Florida Republican challenged Democrats to confront him face-to-face over a tweet that the GOP’s efforts to protect the southern border were rooted in white nationalism.

The controversy erupted when the committee’s Democrats issued a tweet saying Republicans were “using today’s hearing to amplify white nationalist conspiracy theories instead of a comprehensive solution to protect our borders and strengthen our immigration system.”

The committee’s senior Democrat, Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, has control over the Twitter account.

“Really?” committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said after reading the tweet while also reminding the panel that it violated its rules to make derogatory statements about other members or question their motives. “I don’t even know what to say about that.”

Donalds, who represents the Naples area, had no problem sharing some thoughts.

“I’m just going to cut to the chase,” said Donalds, who is black, before the committee heard testimony from two veteran Border Patrol agents.

“For my colleagues on the other side of the aisle who want to state that we’re using this hearing for white nationalism, I’m not doing that.”

“So, if you feel that strongly, come walk to this side of the room and let’s talk about it face-to-face,” Donalds continued. “But leave that kind of silly stuff for somebody else. Don’t bring that here today. This stuff is serious.”

No Democrats took Donalds up on his offer. By the way, the congressman has said he’s 6-foot-2 and 275 pounds.

During the hearing, another black Republican objected to the Democrats’ claims of racism.

When one Democrat-friendly witness said it was racist to call millions of illegals streaming across the border an “invasion,” Texas Rep. Wesley Hunt replied that Democrats too often cite racism as a “scapegoat.”

“I’ve been black for a long time, sir, so I get it,” Hunt told the witness.

“I’ve been a minority in this country for a very long time. But this is actually not about race, this is actually an issue of public safety.”
