U.S. Rep. Kat Cammack spoke out about former Biden administration official Sam Brinton on Tuesday, sounding almost like one of the women whose luggage was allegedly stolen by the former Energy Department staffer.

Appearing on Newsmax on Tuesday, the Gainesville Republican said it was “absolutely insane” that the Biden administration put Brinton in a sensitive job and granted him a security clearance.

The question arose after Brinton faced a second allegation of lifting luggage from an airport.

As The Free Press has reported, Brinton, the deputy assistant secretary over a nuclear waste program within the Energy Department, was charged with swiping a woman’s $2,325 bag from the airport in Minneapolis in September.

After that news broke, a second woman accused Brinton of taking her bag, this time in Las Vegas.

It’s unclear why Brinton was interested in their luggage. But he has boasted of his standing as a “non-binary drag queen” and promoting himself as the “first gender fluid person in federal government leadership.”

The Energy Department confirmed on Tuesday that Brinton was fired after the second allegation.

That came, as The Free Press reported on Saturday, after 16 House Republicans sent Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm a letter demanding Brinton be let go.

“It is simply not possible for an individual to represent American values and simultaneously violate the felony laws of the land,” the letter stated.

“Brinton’s actions, along with your Department’s lack of transparency when dealing with this matter, reflect poorly on the Department of Energy, and they raise concern as to the Biden Administration’s priorities when appointing high-ranking officials.”

The same administration that flaunted Brinton and his sexuality in a high-profile job was uncharacteristically silent about his reported crime spree. Media accounts noted that an Energy Department said “by law” it could not publicly discuss a personnel matter.

That did not apply to Rep. Cammack.

It’s “absolutely insane that this person was hired and then granted a security clearance in the first place,” Cammack told Newsmax.

“Clearly, they are more interested in a political, woke agenda of checking boxes than people being qualified to do the job.”

Someone who is “parading around” and stealing luggage and committing crimes “should not have a security clearance,” Cammack continued.

The congresswoman added, “This termination was long overdue. And I wish we could get back to the point of hiring the best damn person for the job rather than checking a box to fit some political agenda.”
