After it was revealed President Joe Biden’s lawyers had recovered classified documents on multiple occasions from the Democratic president’s former Washington office and Delaware home, Democrats smelled a troll.
As The Free Press reported last week, Democratic Rep. Hank Johnson of Georgia said the timing of the revelation that Biden had squirreled away secret records was “suspicious.”
Johnson implausibly suggested that Republicans may have planted the records to undermine Biden.
But Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz has an alternate theory of the crime to fail to properly secure classified materials.
In an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, which Gaetz tweeted on Thursday night, Gaetz argued the Democrats are actually the ones out to get Biden.

Gaetz began the interview by noting that Biden’s personal lawyer, a Democrat, found the records and then alerted the Democratic staff at the White House, who then did “the absolute worst thing”: they sat on the news.
The original cache of records was found in a Washington think tank named for Biden in early November, just before the 2022 elections. But that revelation did not become public until last week, when CBS News first reported it.
Since then, there have been subsequent discoveries of Biden’s stashed classified records, including as recently as last week.
The discovery of the documents has served to undermine Biden’s claim that former President Donald Trump was reckless for storing classified materials at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Attorney General Merrick Garland quietly appointed the U.S. attorney in Chicago to probe the original breach. Another federal prosecutor has been taped to oversee the other discoveries.
In his interview with Ingraham, Congressman Gaetz noted that the “big tell” Democrats are after Biden is that some of his main Democratic allies, such as Sen. Christopher Coons and Rep. Eric Swalwell, are saying a special counsel is appropriate to “criminally investigate” the situation.

“Maybe the Deep State and a lot of these Democrats have figured out that they’d rather roll with [California Gov.] Gavin Newsom than Joe Biden,” Gaetz tweeted Thursday.
“The Republicans might not even have to help the Democrats take out their trash!”
In response to Ingraham’s question for his take on Biden’s recent demeanor, Gaetz noted, “Joe Biden’s mad. And he should be.”
“His own Department of Justice is now criminally investigating him. His own staff put him in a terrible position by sitting on this information. And his own lawyer was searching around for the evidence of a paperwork crime from a decade ago.”
Continuing, Gaetz said, “Just because the permanent bureaucratic state picked Joe Biden over Donald Trump in 2020, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re going to pick Joe Biden going forward in 2024. They may realize he is addled and breaking apart.”
Gaetz reminded his host that the Deep State cares most about “power for the left.”
“It’s not about Joe Biden,” said Gaetz. “It’s about maintaining power for the political left. And they may think he’s a bad bet going forward.”
“He is looking more and more troubled as a candidate going forward, and I don’t think it’s just a coincidence that this leak went to CBS News right as the cement is starting to harden around Joe Biden’s decision to assemble a political team and prepare for the upcoming primaries.”
“Blood’s in the water, and I think the Democrats are circling the carcass.”
