Capitol Campout

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene: “Evict Them” Calling Bush, AOC Communist After Capitol Campout

The “Squad” setup camp last weekend transforming the U.S. Capitol into a campground and sleeping on the Capitol Building’s steps.

Missouri Rep. Cori Bush, Minnesota’s Ilhan Omar, and Massachusetts’ Ayanna Pressley camped outside the Capitol building calling on lawmakers to reconvene at the expiration of the national eviction moratorium.

On Friday, AOC released a video, saying, “We cannot go home.”

“Everybody knew this was coming. We have members within our own caucus threatening to go on vacation,” said AOC.

“It’s 1am and @MondaireJones and @AOC are on the Capitol steps chatting with folks out here demanding that @POTUS #ExtendTheMoratorium and prevent mass evictions,” said Geroge Flynn.

On Saturday morning, Rep. Bush said, “Good morning. The eviction moratorium expires tonight at midnight. We could have extended it yesterday, but some Democrats went on vacation instead. We slept at the Capitol last night to ask them to come back and do their jobs. Today’s their last chance. We’re still here.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called for a cleanup Monday.

“Communists Cori Bush and AOC have turned the East Capitol steps into a homeless camp, even leaving Dominos Pizza boxes, Cheez-Its, and Oreos strewn all over the ground. EVICT THEM,” said Greene in a tweet.

In another tweet, MTG said, ” Look at the capitalism!” With pictures of the trash left behind at the nation’s Capitol.

It’s not clear yet if the trash outside of the Capitol was cleaned up, but we have reached out to Rep. Greene’s Office and Rep. Bush’s office for comment.
