Report: Paul Pelosi Attacker, David DePape, In The United States Illegally

David DePape Attacked Paul Pelosi Mentally Ill Ex-Girlfriend

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband is a victim of a brutal attack by an alleged trespasser and appears to be a victim of left-wing immigration policy.

Breitbart News on Monday noted that David DePape, the man accused of attacking Paul Pelosi in his California home last week and battering him with a hammer, was actually an illegal immigrant.

According to Fox News reporter Bill Melugin, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement official reported that DePape, originally a Canadian, had overstayed his visa.

It is unclear so far what type of visa DePape had upon entering America and when he got it.

Breitbart noted that DePape first came to California about two decades ago.

In response to the news, Don Trump Jr, tweeted, “Wait, so you’re saying if we actually enforced our immigration laws in California, Paul Pelosi’s attacker wouldn’t have been here to commit the offense! Good to know.”

As Breitbart pointed out, “With Nancy Pelosi’s support, California has one of the most rigorous sanctuary state policies in the United States — shielding criminal illegal aliens from arrest and deportation by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency and prohibiting local law enforcement from coordinating with ICE.”

Canadians in recent years have often been the most common group to overstay visas, more so than Mexicans.

According to the last two years in its most recent report, the Department of Homeland Security notes that about 140,000 Canadians have not gone home when they were supposed to, thus becoming illegal immigrants.

But that number is likely low since it counts only those who entered the U.S. by air or sea ports, and not those who crossed by land.

The Washington Examiner, which also reported on DePape’s immigration status, reported, “Canadians are only allowed to stay in the U.S. for a maximum of six months before they have to apply for an extension. Even then, the maximum extension is only for another six months. Then, you have to go back to Canada.”

“That means that after the first year he was in the U.S., DePape would have become an illegal immigrant. It is possible that he had an American parent, married a U.S. citizen at some point, or pursued naturalization through some other path. But so far, no such thing has been reported.”
