Resident Jumps From 2nd Floor Tampa Apartment Fire, Unattended Cooking To Blame

Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at the 1400 block of Debeers Dr. in the Regency Square Apartments at 4:00 pm Tuesday afternoon.

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at the 1400 block of Debeers Dr. in the Regency Square Apartments at 4:00 pm Tuesday afternoon.

Engine 13 was first on the scene and found a two-story multi-family dwelling with flames through the roof.

There were reports of an individual jumping out the second-floor window.

Crews made an interior attack on the fire and had it under control within 7-10 minutes. Firefighters entered the structure and completed a primary and secondary search.

No occupants were in the structure.

One resident was transported to the hospital with injuries. There were no reported injuries to firefighters.

The American Red Cross has been contacted for five families in five affected apartments due to smoke and water damage.

TFR fire investigators were on the scene and the cause of the fire was deemed accidental due to unattended cooking.
