HAINES CITY, Fla. – The community of Haines City is mourning the loss of a young woman, Asiya La’Trece Roberts-Husband, whose life was tragically cut short in a shooting on Friday, December 27, near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Avenue K.
The incident occurred around 6:22 PM when Asiya, 33, and her employer were traveling in a white transport van. According to authorities, an unknown suspect in a four-door sedan opened fire, fatally striking Asiya.
The driver of the van also sustained injuries but has received medical care and is on the road to recovery.

The Haines City Police Department is actively investigating the case and has called on the community for assistance in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting, no matter how small, to come forward. The Haines City Police Department emphasized the importance of community cooperation in solving this case and preventing future violence.
To encourage tips, a $7,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible. The reward includes $2,500 from the Haines City Police Department and $5,000 from Heartland Crime Stoppers.
