LAKELAND, Fla. – A state health inspection at a popular Lakeland steakhouse last week resulted in a warning after officials discovered roaches near food preparation areas.

Inspectors with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation visited the Texas Roadhouse in Lakeland on December 16, 2025.

The primary concern centered on a “High Priority” violation for live pest activity. The report details that the inspector found one live roach on the wall behind the ‘fry cooler’ and a second live roach on the floor in the same area.

In addition to the live activity, the restaurant was cited for a “Basic” violation regarding dead pests. Inspectors noted a dead roach underneath an upright Traulsen stand-up freezer.

Staff members took immediate steps to address the findings during the visit.

The report notes that all roaches were removed or eradicated, and the affected areas were “cleaned and sanitized” while the inspector was present.
