A neighborhood spat in Florida escalated to terrifying levels on Sunday when a 23-year-old Lehigh Acres woman, Esmerelda Cruz, was arrested following a shocking road rage incident that involved her pointing a gun at her neighbors—including their dog—at the intersection of 19th St. SW and Ruth Ave. S.

The incident, which investigators say was captured on a camera mounted to Cruz’s vehicle, showed her driving toward her neighbors before stopping, exiting the vehicle, and allegedly pointing a firearm at the family.

Cruz now faces three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Authorities later recovered the weapon from her home.

Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno addressed the situation. “The grid is busier than ever. Road rage has no place in Lee County, and won’t be tolerated,” Marceno stated.
