POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A simple traffic violation in Fort Meade led to the arrest of a 24-year-old Bartow man wanted on a felony warrant.
The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. on June 12. A Polk County Sheriff’s Office Ag-Crimes deputy was in the area helping a local rancher with some cattle. While working, the deputy spotted a red Ford Mustang blowing straight through a stop sign.
The deputy pulled the vehicle over and identified the driver as Cameron J. Chambers. During the routine stop, a background check showed that Chambers had an active warrant out of St. Johns County for grand theft.
Chambers was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Sheriff’s Processing Center and booked on the outstanding warrant.
Records show Chambers has a prior criminal history. Deputies say his past charges include fleeing to elude, reckless driving, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking, and resisting arrest.
