PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A dump truck overturned Wednesday afternoon on the exit ramp from northbound Interstate 275 to westbound State Road 690 in Pinellas County, causing traffic delays as crews worked to clean up a large spill of sand and dirt.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. A 23-year-old Tampa man was driving the dump truck northbound on I-275 when he took the exit to westbound SR-690.
The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and spill its cargo across the roadway.
The driver was not injured in the crash. Highway patrol officials reported that crews remain on the scene working to clear the overturned vehicle and the spilled material.
Drivers traveling through the area are advised to expect delays while cleanup efforts continue.
