Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Florida Receives $21,000 Appliance Donation from Conn’s HomePlus

ORLANDO, FL. – On Tuesday, July 27, Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Florida (RMHCCF) received a donation of much-needed appliances from Conn’s HomePlus, including six washer and dryer pairs, three stoves, three dishwashers, and three microwave ovens, valued over $21,000.

Delivery of appliances was made to all three Ronald McDonald Houses in Orlando, which will help RMHCCF continue providing a home away from home for families with seriously ill or injured children receiving medical care and treatment at a pediatric hospital.

“One thing we’ve learned throughout this past year is that pediatric illnesses do not pause—even for pandemics. We have continued to provide a home away from home, including daily meals, at no cost to the guest families with a child undergoing medical treatment here in Orlando,” says Lou Ann DeVoogd, President & CEO of RMHCCF. “We are so grateful for this contribution from Conn’s HomePlus. These gifts are essentials for our Houses, as we provide for up to 84 guest families each night. Keeping families close during the most stressful times in their lives truly helps the healing process.”

Conn’s HomePlus is a specialty retailer specializing in furniture, appliances, and consumer electronics, and has recently expanded to the Florida market. This donation to RMHCCF was made through the brand’s charitable arm Conn’s Cares.

Since 2017, Conn’s HomePlus philanthropic arm, Conn’s Cares has donated $886,000 in funds and products to local, community-based third-party charitable organizations. This donation to RMHCCF helps Conn’s HomePlus continue their mission of positively impacting the communities they serve.

“Conn’s HomePlus believes in giving back to the communities we serve, and the Conn’s Cares program provides a platform to make a difference by honoring deserving organizations like Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida,” Norm Miller, Chairman and CEO of Conn’s HomePlus, says. “We wanted to show our support for the children and families who stay at the Ronald McDonald Houses, and hope this donation makes the residents feel a little closer to home while staying there.”
