Mayor Of San Francisco Breed Mask

San Francisco Mayor Offers Latest Example Of Democratic Hypocrisy On Mask Mandates

It’s like the political version of Bill Murray’s movie “Groundhog Day”: America awakes to find that yet again a prominent Democratic politician breaks his or her own rules on COVID-19 policies.

Most recently, it was San Francisco Mayor London Breed.

As the Associated Press reported on Friday, Breed was “spotted dancing and singing along to live music without a mask at an indoor nightclub, despite a strict order by her public health department that requires wearing masks at indoor establishments unless someone is actively eating or drinking.”

Breed, the report continued, “has promoted restrictive measures aimed at curbing the coronavirus, frustrating business owners who have had to shut down or limit customers.”

The AP reported that Breed was at the club to hear a gig by two of the three original members of the popular 1990s R&B group Tony! Toni! Toné!.

The mayor apparently enjoyed herself. She told local media after the performance, “The fact that we have not been able to enjoy live music in this way since the beginning of this pandemic made it even that much more special and extraordinary.”

Of course, one reason San Fran residents have not been able to enjoy live music os that Democrats like Goiv. Gavin Newsom and Breed have tamped down on their constituents’ social activities.

Breed, who reportedly was vaccinated in March, sought to downplay the controversy by telling the media that club requires a vaccine passport to enter. In fact, that was a rule Breed issued for nightclubs restaurants and other indoor settings last month.

Still, Breed’s own regulations mandate patrons to wear a “well-fitting mask indoors in public settings.”

The mayor continued to show disregard for rules she put in place. On Friday, she told reporters, “My drink was sitting at the table. I got up and started dancing because I was feeling the spirit and I wasn’t thinking about a mask. I was thinking about having a good time and in the process I was following the health orders.”

“The fact that this is even a story is sad,” she added.

Breed, of course, is not alone among Democrats in making sure the rules are for thee but not for me.

Left-wing Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez attended a lavish fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art this week, and was repeatedly photographed without wearing a mask.

Last week, another Democratic leader, Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser also put the hypocrisy on display.

She tweeted a photo of herself standing maskless alongside eight other women at a function that promotes young balck people for leadership.

Yet in July, Bowser also issued a mask mandate for indoor gatherings, noting in a statement, “Choosing not to wear a mask puts your own health as well as the health of others at risk.”

Three weeks ago, it was Boston Mayor Kim Janey’s turn. Less than 24 hours after imposing a mask mandate, the mayor was posing maskless inside a restaurant for a photo. Around the same time she was also photographed talking to people on a street with many of them, including the mayor, not wearing masks even though she claimed to wear her mask at all times, even when outside.

One issue, suffice to say, is the obvious hypocrisy of people such as these politicians ignoring their own rules.

But their defenders are usually quick to point out that they and those around them are all vaccinated.

Yet on that point, if the vaccines are as effective as claimed and sufficiently protect people who got jabbed, why do those who are vaccinated have to wear a mask at any time?
