SARASOTA, Fla. – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has charged 34-year-old Nicholas Novickis with two counts of Second-Degree Murder and one count of Animal Cruelty following a shooting on Saturday, May 23, at a residence in the Artistry neighborhood in Sarasota.
Deputies responded to a reported shooting at 4707 Mondrian Court at approximately 11:38 a.m. Upon entering the residence, deputies located Novickis in the kitchen and took him into custody without incident.
Inside the home, deputies found Novickis’ 34-year-old girlfriend, Allie Novickis, and his 6-year-old son, Phoenix Novickis, deceased. The family dog was also found with gunshot wounds. The animal was transferred to an emergency veterinarian hospital, where it was later pronounced deceased.
The motive for the shooting is currently unknown. According to officials, “The investigation is ongoing.”
Novickis is being held at the Sarasota County Correctional Facility with no bond.
