SARASOTA, Fla. – The Sarasota Police Department has released body camera and in-car footage of a crash that critically injured an 8-year-old boy.

The incident occurred Monday evening at the intersection of 23rd Street and Maple Avenue, involving a police officer and the child, who was riding a dirt bike.

The footage, which viewer discretion is advised for, shows the officer leaving the scene of an unrelated call when the child enters the intersection. The collision is captured on both the officer’s body-worn camera and the in-car camera of another officer at the scene.
