ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Residents of St. Petersburg should check their calendars before rolling their bins to the curb this week, as the city has announced modifications to service schedules for the New Year’s holiday.

City officials confirmed Monday that several municipal facilities will close on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, to observe New Year’s Day. Along with facility closures, the holiday will impact residential trash and recycling routes.

According to the city’s announcement, residents with regularly scheduled collections on Monday, Tuesday, or Friday will see no change in service. However, those who typically have their trash or recycling collected on Thursdays will need to put their bins out early: Thursday collections will be picked up on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

In addition to the waste collection changes, the city’s Brush Sites will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Sunrise St. Pete service centers are also taking an extended break. These locations will be closed from Thursday, Jan. 1 through Saturday, Jan. 3. Residents looking for standard operating hours for these centers can visit www.sunrisestpete.org.

City officials encourage residents to download the “St. Pete Collects” mobile app to receive real-time reminders about their specific collection days. For a comprehensive list of facility closures and holiday hours, visit www.stpete.org/HolidayClosures.
