School Zone Scare: Texas Senior Jailed After Terrifying Machete Road Rage Attack

A Houston man is behind bars after a routine drive through a school zone turned into a violent confrontation involving a machete. The incident, which unfolded on March 26 near the Willowbrook area, led to the arrest of 71-year-old Lawrence Taylor following a tense standoff caught on camera.

The trouble started when a female driver slowed her vehicle to comply with school zone speed limits. According to investigators, Taylor became enraged by the delay, pulling his pickup truck alongside the woman to shout profanities.

The situation quickly escalated when Taylor sped ahead, cut the woman off, and forced her to a stop in the middle of the road.

Witnesses and police reports indicate that Taylor then stepped out of his truck and grabbed a machete from the back seat. He approached the victim’s car and began pounding on the glass.

Video footage of the encounter shows the 71-year-old demanding the woman exit her vehicle while continuing to shout threats.

The victim later told authorities that her fear grew as the confrontation dragged on, particularly when Taylor began following her vehicle after she tried to drive away. While Taylor eventually fled the scene that afternoon, the investigation led police to his door just a few days later.

Law enforcement took Taylor into custody on March 31. He has officially been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A judge set his bond at $50,000 as the case moves toward trial. Local officials confirmed the investigation is still active, though no further injuries were reported in connection with the encounter.
