Search Intensifies For Weeki Wachee Teen Missing Since Mid-January

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities in Hernando County are asking for the public’s help to locate a 16-year-old girl who vanished from her home more than two weeks ago.

Makayla Spivey was last seen leaving her residence on Eskimo Curlew in Weeki Wachee around 8:00 p.m. on January 17. According to investigators, she left the house on foot and hasn’t been heard from since.

Makayla is described as being 5’7″ tall and weighing about 200 pounds, with blonde hair and brown eyes. When she was last seen, she was wearing a pink crop top, blue jeans, and a distinctive gold necklace featuring an angel wing pendant.

While she went missing from the Weeki Wachee area, detectives currently believe she may have made her way south into neighboring Hillsborough County.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone who might have spotted her or knows where she might be staying to come forward.
