Search Launched For Two U.S. Soldiers Missing In Morocco

A massive search and rescue mission is currently scouring the southern coast of Morocco after two American service members vanished during a major international military exercise.

The disappearance has brought the high-stakes “African Lion” training maneuvers to a sudden standstill as U.S. and Moroccan teams shift their focus from war games to a desperate race against time.

The two service members were reported missing under circumstances officials describe as an accident unrelated to the actual training drills.

African Lion stands as the largest annual exercise led by U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM). It is a massive undertaking designed to prep over 5,000 personnel from more than 40 nations for the complexities of modern conflict.

This year’s iteration was intended to showcase advanced tech, including autonomous systems and AI, across land, sea, and air.

As of Sunday morning, the identities of the missing soldiers have not been made public, and military officials have not provided further details on the specific location or the nature of the accident. For now, the drills are secondary to the search efforts concentrated along the windswept Moroccan coast.
