HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A late-night collision on State Road 574 has left a local teenager dead and authorities searching for a driver who vanished from the scene.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the three-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 10:56 PM on Saturday, April 11, just west of Chastain Road in Hillsborough County.
According to investigators, a 40-year-old man from Mulberry was driving a Nissan Versa eastbound when his vehicle crossed into the westbound lane. The Nissan struck an oncoming Volkswagen Passat, driven by a 17-year-old male from Seffner, in a nearly head-on collision.
The force of the impact caused both cars to spin out in the middle of the roadway. Moments later, a westbound Ford F150 traveling behind the Volkswagen struck the disabled car. Rather than remaining at the scene to provide aid, the driver of the Ford fled on foot.

The Florida Highway Patrol has not yet released the identity of the driver who fled and is asking for the public’s help to track them down.
Anyone who might have seen the driver of the Ford F150 or has information regarding their whereabouts is urged to contact the FHP by dialing *FHP (*347) or reaching out to Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.
