Selmon Expressway Hit And Run Suspect Arrested In Crash That Killed A 36-Year-Old Citra Man

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol Troopers have arrested the suspect in the deadly hit and run crash on the Selmon Expressway Sunday.

According to FHP, a pickup truck driven by, Miguel Matias Usher 26, was traveling eastbound on the Selmon Expressway on the the inside lane near Milepost 11.

Troopers say the man entered the outside lane causing the front right of the pickup truck to collide with the left rear of a car driven by the 36-year-old Citra man.

The impact resulted in both vehicles rotating and finally stopping along the outside shoulder of the roadway.

The Citra man suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash while his passenger, a33-year-old Brandom woman suffered critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Usher, 26, bleeding from a laceration to his forehead, fled the crash scene on foot.

FHP says that Usher surrendered himself early this afternoon and has been arrested by FHP Troopers for Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death and Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Serious Bodily Injury.

Usher was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail following his arrest Sunday.
