PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A tractor-trailer hauling Tesla vehicle batteries crashed along Interstate 275 in Pinellas County on Tuesday morning after suffering a blown tire, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. near milepost 24. Troopers reported that the semi-truck, driven by a 58-year-old man from Polk City, was traveling southbound when one of its tires suddenly failed.
The blowout caused the driver to lose control of the rig. The vehicle veered off the roadway onto the shoulder, where it crashed into a guardrail and a light pole before coming to a stop.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported in the crash. State troopers did not indicate whether the collision caused any damage to the cargo of batteries or resulted in significant lane closures on the interstate.
