PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A 22-year-old Seminole man is in custody following a fatal hit-and-run crash early Thursday morning that claimed the life of a Naples man.

The collision happened around 2:45 a.m. in the 8700 block of Bay Pines Boulevard, just north of Seahorse Drive. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 64-year-old Naples man was riding his bicycle northbound, towing a small trailer loaded with tree branches.

Troopers say Dominic Boeing, driving a Kia Optima, overtook the bicyclist and collided with him. Rather than stopping to help, Boeing allegedly fled the scene of the crash.

First responders transported the bicyclist to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators state that after leaving the scene, Boeing drove to his residence on 87th Place. Once home, he contacted authorities to report the incident.

FHP Troopers responded to the location and arrested Boeing. He faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death.
