Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) issued a statement praising President Donald Trump and his administration for their role in securing the release and safe return of the last 20 living Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
Schumer called it a “wonderful day” as “the last living hostages brutally held by Hamas are home,” and commended “the enormous advocacy of the tireless hostage families, President Trump, his administration, and all who helped make this moment happen.”

The release followed an agreement announced by President Trump two weeks prior, which included Israel releasing 250 Palestinian terror convicts. The 20 hostages were freed in Gaza, handed over to the Red Cross, and then transferred to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Schumer reaffirmed his “solemnly reaffirm our commitment to bringing home all the deceased hostages,” including his constituents Omer Neutra and Itay Chen.
Former President Bill Clinton also credited Trump, his administration, Qatar, and other regional actors for keeping parties engaged until the peace agreement was reached, which also allowed “desperately needed aid” to flow into Gaza.
President Trump stated that the next step would be working with Israel to seek out the bodies of the deceased hostages.
