Sen. Scott Says No “Long-Term Job Stability” In News IRS Jobs

Florida Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Scott warned job seekers against applying for new positions at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), vowing that Republicans will move to rescind the new federal funding for the agency if they retake control of Congress next year.

Florida Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Scott warned job seekers against applying for new positions at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), vowing that Republicans will move to rescind the new federal funding for the agency if they retake control of Congress next year.

Democrats are expanding enforcement of the IRS with an $80 billion investment from funding that was included in the climate and health bill, titled the Inflation Reduction Act.

Biden signed the bill into law on Tuesday.

“These new positions at the IRS will not offer you the long-term job stability you may expect from a position with the federal government. Put another way: this will be a short-term gig,” Scott wrote in an open letter released by his office on Tuesday.

Scott alleges that Democrats wanted to form a “IRS super-police” that could go so far as barge into your house and kill you, a reference to an IRS job ad indicating applicants had to be willing to carry a firearm and use deadly force.

“We aren’t talking about joining your local police force, or even the U.S. military – this is the federal agency charged with collecting taxes,” Scott said in the letter.

“The IRS is making it very clear that you not only need to be ready to audit and investigate your fellow hardworking Americans, your neighbors and friends, you need to be ready and, to use the IRS’s words, willing, to kill them.”
