‘She’s Pregnant’ Florida Teacher Arrested After Sexual Relationship With Student

A 41-year-old Florida teacher was arrested Thursday after authorities discovered she was having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student.

Heiry Calvi, 41, a teacher at John I. Smith K-8 Center in Doral, was removed from school after police conducted a seven-month investigation after a complaint from the Department of Children and Families on the teacher’s relationship with a 15-year-old student.

Calvi was a tutor for the 15-year-old boy while he was attending J.C. Bermudez Senior High School.

According to police, nude photos and text messages were revealed on the student’s phone in the popular WhatsApp messenger.

According to arrest reports, a search of the student’s phone revealed nude pictures of Calvi and the student, a WhatsApp message thread where the two texted each other “I love you” and other romantic expressions, Calvi’s credit card being used for the student and an audio recording of the student telling an unknown person to deny knowing about his relationship with Calvi.

The student admitted to police that he and the teacher had sex, but he was not raped and he is not a victim.

During a press briefing on Friday, Doral Police Spokesperson Rey Valdes said, “We spoke to him (victim), he denied being a victim. He flat out told us he was that he was not raped. But I want to point out under Florida law, a minor cannot give consent.”

“You should trust your children, but as parents, you should always be cognizant of what your kids are doing and who they are hanging out with,” Valdes said.

In a twist to the story, 41-year-old Calvi is pregnant, and details on whether or not the 15-year-old is the Father have not been disclosed.

Valdes said the teacher told a detective that she was pregnant but did not disclose how many months along she is.

Calvi posted bond on Saturday and was released from Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Calvi faces two felony charges including lewd and lascivious battery and electronic transmission harmful to minors.
