A registered nurse in Texas, Jorge Armando Nuncio Moreno, 32, is facing charges of attempted sexual assault after being accused of inappropriately touching a patient on Valentine’s Day. Court records filed by Austin Police detail the alleged incident involving a patient in the hospital’s Progressive Care Unit.

According to an arrest affidavit, Nuncio is accused of offering the patient a massage and then touching her chest and genital area. The patient, who was on oxygen at the time, reported the incident the following day during a Sexual Assault Forensic Exam, stating Nuncio used lotion on his hand.

A room cleaner also reported witnessing Nuncio in a “weird” position behind the patient, who had her gown down.

Medical notes subpoenaed by Austin Police, initialed by Nuncio, did not indicate any medical reason for a massage. However, Nuncio admitted in his statement to giving the victim a massage with lotion on her back and upper legs, stating her gown “dropped” and “moved over” during the process.

Nuncio was hired in January 2023 after passing a background check and had no prior disciplinary actions. St. David’s Medical Center conducted an internal investigation that was “inconclusive,” and Nuncio returned to work in June for four shifts.

He was suspended without pay after the initial allegation and remains suspended pending the outcome of the case, following the issuance of an arrest warrant on June 9.

His attorney, Charles Baird, stated that Nuncio has always conducted himself professionally and has cooperated fully with authorities.

“We are optimistic this matter will be resolved swiftly, and Jorge will continue to be a valued member of the St. David’s family,” Baird told KXAN in a statement.

Nuncio’s nursing license is active and set to expire in May 2027. This case highlights ongoing discussions regarding the transparency of disciplinary actions for nurses, as the Texas Board of Nursing does not publicly disclose such information in the same way the Texas Medical Board does.
