Deputies Investigate After Unidentified Man Drowns at Beach Access 9
SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. – A day at the beach turned to tragedy Sunday afternoon when an unresponsive male swimmer was pulled from the Gulf of Mexico near Siesta Key’s Beach Access 9. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by good Samaritans and first responders, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and EMS personnel were dispatched to 514 Beach Road around 2:21 p.m. following reports of a swimmer in distress. Civilian bystanders had already pulled the man from the water by the time emergency crews arrived.
First responders took over and continued to administer life-saving measures, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The adult male, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced deceased.
Detectives with the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office are leading the death investigation. Authorities are working to identify the subject and notify next of kin.
