Silver Alert: Search Intensifies For Hernando County Man And Dog Headed To Connecticut

A Silver Alert is active this Sunday as authorities scramble to find 87-year-old Charles Brower, who disappeared from Hernando County earlier today. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office reported that Brower, who has been diagnosed with dementia, was last seen around 8 a.m., leaving his neighborhood.

He isn’t traveling alone; Brower is believed to have the family’s Golden Retriever with him in his truck. Officials describe his vehicle as a green Ford F-150 sporting a Connecticut license plate, number C158464.

While he started his journey in Hernando County, license plate readers last picked up his vehicle further north in Alachua County. Investigators believe he is attempting to drive to Connecticut.

Brower is a white male, approximately 5’9″ tall, weighing 165 pounds. He is bald with white hair and brown eyes. It is currently unknown what clothing he was wearing when he left his home.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who spots the green pickup or has information on where Brower might be to call them immediately at 352-754-6830.

“The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the assistance from the public and our media partners in locating a MISSING ENDANGERED ADULT,” the department stated in their official release.
