Sinkhole in Pasco County Growing 130′ Deep 46′ Wide

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco County Emergency Management reports the depression on Spring Haven Boulevard in New Port Richey opened another four feet Saturday – growing east towards Little Road. The hole is now 46 feet wide. The county has also determined the hole extends approximately 60 feet below the visible water line (at 70 feet), meaning the total depth of the depression is now estimated to be 130 feet.

The outside, southbound lane of Little Road, closest to the hole, has been shut down for safety reasons and will remain closed until further notice.

The county has hired an engineering firm to perform underground testing at the site, which is being conducted today. Test results are not expected until early next week.

Emergency Management continues to monitor the depression’s activity daily.
