Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman blasts comments made by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani regarding the potential arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During an appearance on Fox News Channel, host Maria Bartiromo asked Fetterman about statements from Mamdani concerning the International Criminal Court (ICC). Mamdani has previously stated he is considering whether a local authority would allow for Netanyahu’s arrest under ICC warrants if the prime minister attends the United Nations General Assembly in New York this September.
In response to Bartiromo’s question, Fetterman rejected the feasibility of any such action.
“Sit down,” Fetterman said. “Tough guy.”
Fetterman stated that local officials lack the jurisdiction to carry out an arrest based on ICC warrants, noting that the United States is not a member state of the court.
“He has no way to do that, of course, obviously,” Fetterman said. “America’s not even part of that corrupt court. So he’s just a clown to even say that.”
Fetterman added that the mayor should focus on municipal issues rather than international affairs, stating, “Now, just sit down and focus on the problems that they have in New York. That’s really not your purview. You and I know that. Sit down.”
The exchange came amid ongoing discussion regarding foreign policy divisions and the influence of progressive leadership within the Democratic Party.
