Residents across the United Arab Emirates were shaken by a series of loud explosions during the early hours of Tuesday morning as the nation’s air defense systems engaged a barrage of incoming threats.
The Ministry of Defense (MOD) has since confirmed that the country’s multi-layered defense network successfully intercepted ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran.
The ministry issued a formal statement to address public concern following reports of booming sounds heard in various regions of the country.
According to the MOD, the noise was the direct result of the military’s active response to the intrusion.

“The sounds heard in scattered areas of the country are the result of the UAE’s air defense systems intercepting ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones,” the Ministry confirmed.
Military officials emphasized that the defense systems are currently “actively engaging with missiles and UAV threats” to ensure the safety of the civilian population and critical infrastructure.
While the interceptions lit up the night sky in several emirates, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant property damage on the ground.
The MOD reiterated its stance on the situation, asserting that the “sounds heard across the country are the result of ongoing engaging operations of missiles and UAVs.”
Security forces remain on high alert as the situation develops, and the government has urged the public to rely only on official sources for updates regarding the aerial activity. Local authorities have not yet released specific numbers regarding the total count of projectiles neutralized during the engagement.
