The conflict between a U.S.-Israeli coalition and Iran reached a new level of intensity Saturday, with significant casualties reported across multiple fronts and a deepening diplomatic rift. Lebanon’s health ministry announced that since the outbreak of hostilities, Israeli strikes have killed 826 people, a figure that includes 106 children and 65 women.
The ministry further noted that the toll on medical personnel has been severe, with 31 paramedics killed to date. This morning, local health officials reported that an Israeli strike on a clinic in the southern Lebanese town of Burj Qalaouiya claimed the lives of 12 medical staff members.
Further east, the semi-official Fars news agency reported that a combined U.S. and Israeli strike targeted a factory in the central Iranian city of Isfahan. The facility, which produces heaters and refrigerators, was reportedly occupied by workers at the time of the attack; at least 15 people were killed.
In Tehran, the Israeli military confirmed it had assassinated two senior officials from Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Emergency Command. Army spokesperson Avichay Adraee identified the deceased as Abdullah Jalali-Nasab and Amir Shariat, both high-ranking figures within the command’s intelligence branch.

The regional instability has triggered a major maritime crisis. According to the Associated Press, Iran issued an evacuation warning for three major ports in the United Arab Emirates, including the Middle East’s busiest shipping hub.
Tehran alleged that U.S. forces have used “ports, docks and hideouts” in the UAE to facilitate strikes on Iran’s Kharg Island, urging civilians to clear areas where U.S. personnel are stationed.
Amid these escalations, Donald Trump addressed the security of the Strait of Hormuz via Truth Social. While saying the U.S. has “beaten and completely decimated Iran, both Militarily, Economically, and in every other way,” he called on international partners to take a larger role in protecting the vital oil corridor.
“The Countries of the World that receive Oil through the Hormuz Strait must take care of that passage, and we will help – A LOT,” Trump wrote.
Despite the mounting violence, the Trump administration has reportedly rejected attempts by Middle Eastern allies to initiate diplomatic negotiations.
Reuters reported that these efforts were aimed at ending the two-week-old war, which began with a massive U.S.-Israeli air campaign. Simultaneously, Semafor reported that Israel informed U.S. officials this week that its stockpile of ballistic missile interceptors is running critically low.
Domestically, FCC Chair Brendan Carr issued a stern warning to American news broadcasters via X. Carr accused media outlets of “running hoaxes and news distortions” regarding the war.
“Broadcasters that are running hoaxes and news distortions – also known as the fake news – have a chance now to correct course before their license renewals come up,” Carr stated.
