BRANDON, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) crews were pushed to the limit this weekend, rushing to battle their second residential fire of the day early Saturday afternoon.

Just after 12:25 p.m., emergency dispatchers were flooded with 911 calls regarding a home ablaze at 1538 Creekbend Drive.

The severity of the situation was evident before units even arrived on the scene; responding crews reported spotting a massive column of smoke rising into the sky from a distance, prompting an immediate upgrade to a “working fire” status.

The first units to pull up found the two-story residence heavily involved, with thick smoke and flames pouring from the structure. Firefighters wasted no time, deploying hose lines and launching an aggressive attack to beat back the flames.

Their quick work paid off. Within 20 minutes of arrival, the fire was brought under control.

Despite the intensity of the blaze, all residents managed to evacuate safely before emergency crews arrived. Firefighters conducted a thorough search of the home to confirm no one was left behind. No injuries were reported among the first responders.

Investigators with the Fire Investigations Unit remain at the scene on Creekbend Drive as they work to pinpoint exactly what sparked the fire.
