THE BREAKDOWN: Three Ruskin residents were arrested Thursday after a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office investigation into child pornography sharing led to a physical altercation with detectives. Authorities recovered digital files of child abuse and bestiality inside the home, while two of the suspects allegedly attacked law enforcement officers trying to secure the evidence.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A search warrant served at a Ruskin home on Thursday ended with three residents behind bars after a digital forensics investigation turned into a physical confrontation with law enforcement.
Detectives with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Internet Predator Unit targeted a home on 9th Street Northeast on June 18, 2026. Investigators had previously determined that child pornography was actively being shared through a social media application from inside the residence.
During the search, detectives examined a device belonging to 22-year-old Misael Clavel. According to the sheriff’s office, the search revealed 100 images or videos of child sexual abuse material. Investigators also discovered two files depicting sexual activity with an animal.
Clavel was arrested and faces 100 counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of possessing or distributing video or images of sexual activity with an animal, and a charge for the unlawful use of a two-way communications device.
The investigation turned physical when detectives attempted to seize an electronic device belonging to Abelino Clavel-Olguin, 26. Deputies stated that Clavel-Olguin refused commands to hand over his passcode and actively tried to delete potential evidence from the cell phone.
When detectives moved to place him under arrest, Clavel-Olguin allegedly resisted and struck a detective multiple times. He now faces charges of obstructing a search warrant, resisting an officer with violence, and battery on a law enforcement officer.
A third resident, 51-year-old Maria Olguin-Chavez, also allegedly became violent as authorities cleared the property. Investigators said Olguin-Chavez physically resisted and tried to punch the detectives on the scene. She was arrested and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence.
In a statement regarding the operation, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized the severity of the digital evidence found and the department’s stance on exploitation.
“Child sexual abuse material victimizes children and fuels further exploitation,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Our detectives are relentless in identifying offenders, removing this material from circulation, and holding those responsible accountable. Anyone who possesses, shares, or attempts to conceal this evidence will face the full consequences of their actions.”
The sheriff’s office noted that the case remains an active investigation.
