A South Carolina elementary school teacher was arrested this week after a search for a missing child led investigators directly to her residence.
Yshay Fuller, 33, was taken into custody on Tuesday, May 19, following an investigation by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. She faces three charges: contributing to the delinquency of a minor, obstructing justice, and neglect by a legal guardian.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s department, deputies initially responded to a call on May 10 regarding a runaway child who was allegedly being held at Fuller’s home. Investigators state that Fuller was not forthcoming with information regarding her knowledge of the child or the child’s current whereabouts.
Deputies did not locate the missing minor at the residence during their response. However, an incident report indicates the child returned to their own home later that evening, having been missing since May 8.

Following her arrest, Fuller was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center with bond set at $20,000. Public records indicate she was released on Thursday under specific conditions, which require her to maintain a distance of at least 1,000 yards from the victim and prohibit any contact.
Online records list Fuller as an educator at Caughman Road Elementary School. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office explicitly noted that the alleged offenses are entirely unrelated to the school or her professional duties there.
Fuller did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and it remains unclear if she has retained legal counsel. Her initial court appearance is scheduled for July 31.
